In primary school environmental studies used to be my favourite subject. Through which I learnt about how silkworms produce silk, the process takes a lot of time, the advantages of having luxurious silk garments and the various reasons of why it is so expensive. (Is it only me who think silk is a beautiful word?)
No matter what style the silk garment is I have always been so drawn to it.
Some reasons on why I love wearing silk:
-If there is one fabric which is perfect for all year round it has to be silk due to the fact that it keeps me warm in winter and cool during summer.
-I rate outfits based on their level of comfort and do I even have to mention that silk is 100 out of 10 as it extremely soft and lightweight.
-When in doubt go for silk; its elegance will never fade.
-One of the benefits of silk is that is a durable fabric. (We did a bit of an experiment in school to try to burn some fabric and silk burns slowly – not that I am asking you to burn your silk clothing). I have some beautiful silk pieces in my wardrobe I’ve had them for years and they are intact.
Now don’t keep them only for special occasions. I would advise buying some printed one for a bit of a glam (kaftan, shift dresses), plain shirts and t-shirts. As accessories you can grab a beautiful scarf.
I choose elegance. I choose silk for a lunch/dinner date for this Valentine’s Day.
Do you love silk too?
